We just finished Alpha V. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this ministry possible. We had wonderful discussion leaders and helpers. Also, a great retreat staff, hospitality workers, and BBQ’ers made the retreat a special time! Thank you everyone who helped make this possible.

We will finish the course next week with our last presentation. It has been a wonderful course and we had a great retreat weekend. BBQ ribs & chicken, skits, and talks about the Holy Spirit and How to Lead the Rest of My Life. What a great group of volunteers! After that we will be off for two weeks and come back on March 26, 2009 for a Celebration Evening. We are hoping that those who have completed the course will bring someone to see what it is all about. During that Celebration Evening will be the presentation “Christianity, Boring, Untrue, and Irrelevant” (NOT!!!). We hope to have our Alpha II leaders there to help celebrate and meet those who might want to attend. The following week Alpha II will begin.

I have learned that the ladies at the Lovelady Center will be having their annual Christmas Party on December 11th, so we will not meet that Thursday. That will add an additional Thursday so that we will finish on February 26 with the Celebration Dinner. We will need to discuss whether to move our retreat weekend to one week later. We may not want to do that since people have blocked out on their calendars the weekend of January 16-18th. Anyone interested in helping plan the retreat, please let me know. We have a lot to work to do on the retreat.

We had a great start this past week! It was an exciting time for all of us. The team members will meet in the chapel at 5:45 P.M. to pray and the session will start at 6:00 P.M. We will end by 8:00 P.M.

The Alpha Course at the Lovelady Center will begin on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Training for volunteers will be on October 30, 2008 at my office, 301 19th Street North, Birmingham, AL, at 6:00 P.M. and ends by 8:00 P.M. Pizza will be provided. Please pray for the people who will be coming to the Alpha Course throughout weeks ahead. Pray also for those who will help in this ministry.
The first Alpha session on November 13th, followed by one on November 20th. We will be off Nov. 27th for Thanksgiving. We will resume on Dec. 4, 11 and 18. Then we will be off on Dec. 25th and January 1st. We will pick back up on Jan. 8, 15. The retreat weekend will be January 16-18. The remaining sessions would be Jan 22 , 29th, February 5 and 12th. The celebration supper will be February 19th.
