Merry Christmas – Be Safe

Image via Wikipedia Over the holidays we enjoy seeing family and friends.  Also, children get new toys.  Ralphie, in A Christmas Story, wanted a Red Ryder BB Gun.  Everyone told him, he would shoot his eye out.  The irony is that after he got his BB Gun, he almost did shoot his eye out! Many…

Careful Driving – Don’t Do this on the Highway

I’ve already written about the change in season and how difficult it can be to see.  Driving is fun as this old commercial shows. (These are real stunts done about 20 years ago.)  The weather had been great for football and weekend drives.  Be careful and enjoy the journey. Yes – don’t try these on…

Everyone knew everybody in the neighborhood and looked after the children to make sure we were safe. Part of the danger…

My last post pointed out that Alabama ranks the fourth highest in the teen death toll. Today, I want to pick up the Reader’s Digest again and look at their Anatomy of a Teen Car Accident. First, they cover that speeding is a factor in 35% of crash deaths involving young drivers. If you look…

Alabama Fourth Highest in The Teen Death Toll

While home visiting my parents, I saw a recent Reader’s Digest Article. The article points out that more than 5,000 teenagers die in car accidents every year. “If we saw these numbers coming back from a war zone, it would be on the front page every day,” says Vincent Leibell, a state senator from New…

Happy 4th of July

Be safe and be careful. Remember to be especially careful if you are shooting off fireworks or around them. I’m thankful for the wonderful opportunities that I have as an American. Let’s remember the principles upon which this great country was founded. Happy 4th of July!
